Façade Consultant

London

This role is perfect for those just starting out in their career or looking to change professions and join at entry level. We'll provide all the learning materials and embrace your goals whilst you work with the whole team to ensure your journey is balanced.  We do not pigeon hole, as this is counter intuitive to a profession that is multifaceted.

  • The engineering of multiple materials such as stainless-steel, aluminium, titanium, weathering steel, zinc, lead, granite, marble, limestone, sandstone, clay ceramics, concrete, ultra-high performance and fibre reinforced concrete, glass, timber, bricks and any material of your choice.

  • Multi-regional wind loading assessments to local codes and standards.

  • Multi-regional thermal assessments to local codes and standard.

  • Review of contractor details and supporting calculations.

  • Engineering assessments of;

  • Rainscreen support structures

  • Pressure equalised unitised curtain walling design

  • Stick system glazing suites

  • Window walling

  • Sheet material

  • Bomb blast analysis (Not essential)

  • Point fixed glazing suits

  • Cable tension net

  • Fatigue calculations

  • Structural silicone design

  • Comprehensive understanding of U.K and European building codes.

  • Inspecting façade structures

  • Review of manufacturing processes

  • Understanding of thermal principles in respect to façades

 

Qualifications

 

  • A relevant degree or equivalent certification

  • UK driving licence

 

Day-to-day

  • Report writing and professional presentation

  • Understanding of façade construction and typologies

  • Review of sub-contractors Technical Submittals

  • Sound comprehension of façade materials

  • Appreciation of non-UK centric façade design (not essential)

  • Ability to communicate façade design with clients’ and multiple trades

  • Enjoys international travel (not all the time)

  • Technical Note writing

  • Specification writing

  • Attending meetings on behalf of the business

Facade Thermal Engineer

London

This role is ideal for a competent thermal modeller who enjoys stitching FEA analysis together. We're looking for someone who has mid-level experience in the modelling of thermal dynamics within the building industry. An appreciation of context and the nature of desktop analysis, including limitations and real world applications would be helpful, but we can help across the varied façade typologies during your career should this experience not be comprehensive.

Skills

 

Not all of the below are expected but will discussed during your interview.

 

  • Understanding of thermal principles in respect to façades

  • Thermal Engineering, one-dimensional and two-dimensional steady-state heat loss analysis (Weighted averaging U-values and linear and point losses)

  • Thermal Engineering, one-dimensional and two-dimensional steady-state interstitial, and surface condensation analysis including vapour diffusion

  • Software - Flixo Pro, Trisco, BuildDesk U

  • Practical understanding of thermal codes and the limitations associated with current calculation methods

  • Thermal glass fracture analysis

  • Vacuum analysis

  • Comprehensive understanding of U.K and European building codes.

Architectural Façade Consultant

London

Position Overview:

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Architectural Façade Consultant with a specialised focus on heritage preservation, façade consultancy for modern methods of construction, traditional and modern masonry façade design, specification, report writing, site attendance, and condition reports. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of architectural facades, historical preservation principles, and be proficient in CAD drawings. The role requires effective communication and coordination skills to lead client and design team meetings, as well as the ability to conduct on-site assessments and provide detailed condition reports.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Heritage Preservation:

​

  • Provide expertise in heritage preservation to ensure the conservation of historical architectural elements.

  • Assess and analyse the existing façade conditions of heritage buildings.

​

Façade Consultancy:

​

  • Conduct comprehensive façade assessments and diagnostics.

  • Develop innovative and sustainable façade solutions based on project requirements.

  • Write façade reports in line with RIBA Plan of Works, catering for all façade typologies required.

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to optimise façade performance.

​

Masonry Façade Design:

​

  • Specialise in the design of masonry facades, incorporating aesthetic and structural considerations.

  • Utilise knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and detailing to create durable and visually appealing designs.

​

Specification and Report Writing:

​

  • Prepare detailed specifications for façade materials, construction methods, and maintenance procedures.

  • Generate comprehensive reports outlining findings, recommendations, and specifications.

  • Conduct on-site attendance and assessments, providing detailed condition reports.

​

CAD Drawings:

​

  • Proficiently create and update CAD drawings for façade designs.

  • Ensure accuracy and adherence to industry standards in all drafted documents.

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to integrate façade details into overall project plans.

​

Client and Design Team Coordination:

​

  • Lead and participate in client and design team meetings to discuss project objectives, progress, and challenges.

  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to clients and team members.

  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of façade designs into overall project goals.

​

Site Attendance and Condition Reports:

​

  • Conduct on-site visits to assess façade conditions, construction progress, and adherence to design specifications.

  • Prepare detailed condition reports outlining observations, recommendations, and necessary actions.

  • Collaborate with project teams to address any on-site challenges and ensure quality control.

Qualifications and Skills:

​

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in heritage preservation and facade consultancy, with a focus on masonry facades.

  • Proficiency in CAD software for creating detailed drawings.
